[Ah yes, the start of the new term. While somewhat exciting in its own way, it was also a bit chaotic. Especially with all the new students requiring help, other teachers needing a variety of books, and other things, Tsukiko was actually kept somewhat busy. It was a change of pace from the norm, where she'd normally be hunched over her desk with a book or her laptop and a steaming cup of tea.

She can be found meandering throughout the shelves, both collecting books that have been requested, offering to help find items, or simply just making sure everything is in its proper place. Busy as she is, she's pleased enough to help anyone who needs it. The library is a wonderful place.

Of course, it's not that difficult to mistake the librarian for a student, looking as young as she does.]

[ The library is a horrible place. Okay, that's a lie. It's true that Illya herself isn't too fond of the place - if only because all the books she needed tended to be on the top shelves.

... What a pain.

Disguntled, she goes up to the librarian, frowning. ]

Sensei, could you help me with something? I need to get a book, but it's too high up for me. [ Because Illya always needs to ask for help when it comes to these things. ]

[Well, there are a number of stools and ladders around, but Tsukiko would really rather students not use them, lest they get hurt or cause any accidental damage to the library itself.

But she comes right over with a smile.]

Of course. Which one do you need?

The one that talks about death, over there. [ She points up to the top; it's there because not much people like that subject.

But Illya's studying it for Very Good Reasons. ]

[Tsukiko's smile starts to fade almost instantly. That's not a subject she's fond of. However, she nods and drags over a stool so she can get to it. She glances down at the other girl, clinging to the shelf for balance with her free hand.]

What interest might you have in....that particular topic?

I want to know what happens, that's all. [ Does she really have to say it? Her voice sounds rather solemn as she says it, even as she smiles. ]

I seeee....

[She doesn't sound thrilled. The librarian steps down and offers her the book.]

If that really is the case though, there are other books that tell of the various beliefs of what comes after death, if that is more what you are looking for.

Well, I can't really say I recommend anything of the sort, but there are some informative volumes in the back if you'd like to borrow them.

[ She's silent at first, feeling rather awkward. ]

Is that really okay?

[A new student is here with two books under his arm. Emerging from the bookshelves, Athrun walks over to the check-out counter.]

Hi. I'd like to check these two books out, please.

[A look at the covers would denote both books as pertaining to mechanical engineering. Surprisingly, they're the kind of books that would appear on a grad student's reading list.]

[Honestly, it's not that surprising. She's quite pleased, though. Anyone who's seeking knowledge of any sort is usually a-ok in her book.]

Sure. [And of course, she can't help but ask.] Are you looking to build something in particular?

[He shakes his head.]

I'm hoping I'll get some inspiration at some point down the road. For now, I'm simply reading these because I'm interested in them.

I seeeeeee...

[She pauses a moment, but she taps the bottom book briefly.]

I believe you'll find this one the more useful of the two.

Some of them.

[She gives a dorky little smile.]

I like to keep myself well informed.

I can't say that's very common. Some of the other librarians I met only come to work to pick up a paycheck.

A library such as this is a vast treasure trove of knowledge that should not go to waste.

[Some of that might be a bit of ego, though. There's a fair number of volumes she's written herself...under different names, of course.]

[Zelda is gliding along down the aisles like she owns the place, because that's pretty much her approach to nearly everything. She's humming softly to herself, tapping the spines of various books as she moves, every so often frowning to herself. She seems lost, if such a thing is possible, and doesn't seem terribly keen on admitting that she can't find things on her own.

A little help would be appreciated, even if she's too proud to ask.]

[Tsukiko spots the girl wandering through the aisles, but it's not that difficult to tell that she's not as confident as she looks. Especially when you've spent as much time observing people as the librarian has.

She watches for a minute or two before speaking up.]

Is there something I can help you find?

[Zelda turns, clearing her throat with a faint cough and smiles wanly. Clearly you've caught her out, ma'am...]

Ah...yes. Could you possibly direct me to the section on religious histories?

[She doesn't blame her. There's a lot of people who would never ask for help on their own.]

Sure. Is there a particular religion you're interested in, or would you like something a little more general?

[Dipping her head she shrugs.]

Something more general, for now. I have a theology paper and I need to come up with a topic on my own.

[A fine answer. One that prevents the librarian from rambling about a specific topic.]

Very well. Follow me and I'll show you.

[Oh, don't worry teacher, you'll have the chance.]

[The books in question are only a few shelves away, so it doesn't take too long. Tsukiko stares at them for a moment before pulling three particular volumes down.]

These should be the most useful, I would think.
