[MOD > EVENT > The Snow Ghost]
Welcome to our first gamewide event, everybody! This is a little ditty I like to call GETTIN SNOWED IN BY GHOSTS.
Day 1: A sudden freak snowstorm hits during afternoon classes. Snow is piled halfway up the first floor windows and the doors are frozen shut. It also knocks out power for a couple hours which means good-bye central heating, so it's gonna get cold in there. Hope your brought your coats!
You're going to have to find a way to get out there and clear some snow to free up the exits and get the power back on.
In the meantime, you may hear an eerie cackle echoing through the empty hallways, or get the unsettling feeling that you're not alone.
There will be an IC Event post for the day-1 snow-in.
Day 2 onward: After clearing some paths and getting things running again, classes will continue as normal, despite the several feet of snow everywhere. Intermittent snowstorms keep refreshing the supply and occasionally blocking exits.
And on top of that, a new threat rears its ugly head: snow-golems. Did you get excited about the snow and run out to build a snowman? Well SURPRISE, everyone's snow-sculptures are springing to life, seconds to hours after being built, and they're terrorizing the students! Some of them are even building minions of their own...
The danger involved in a battle with any individual snow-golem can range wildly depending on how imaginative their creator got with them. In a physical fight, they're not that hard to put down, but they can keep rebuilding themselves out of the surrounding snow. To take one down permanently, you'll have to drag it into a Contract Duel. They're much more powerful in the duelscape and some are even capable of using ice magic to devastating effect.
Oddly enough, the snow golems continue to pop up, no matter how much people shout at each other to stop building snowmen. Perhaps they are not all coming from the students...?
No mod-event post for this, I'm leaving IC posts up to y'all. You are free to NPC your own snow-golems and get as creative with them as you like. Power limitations are: nothing with a game-wide effect, and any powers are going to follow a winter theme. Snow-golems can interrupt contract duels or be dragged into them (intentionally or unintentionally). For those who aren't in on the masquerade, glamour will make the snow-golems look like ordinary snow sculptures until someone points out that they're moving around.
Day 5ish onward: A few days in, even stranger things are starting to happen. Sometimes the lights will start flickering for no apparent reason, or objects will throw themselves across a room, or the temperature will suddenly drop severely in a very small area. It's also not uncommon to see patterns of frost on the ceiling or walls, or find patches of ice on the hallway floors.
You might catch a glimpse of the mysterious figure of a woman in white with long black hair. She's gone as fast as she appears, and trying to follow her only leads to trouble. If you're outside, you'll probably find snow-golems. If you're inside, she might lead you into a room and then freeze the exits shut, or start a brief snow-flurry inside before disappearing.
Whoever she is, she seems to be having a grand old time of it, because that ghostly cackling is echoing through the hallways a lot more frequently now.
It's becoming clear that if the occupants of the academy want these shenanigans to stop, they're going to have to figure out how to pin this lady down and get to the bottom of things.
Feel free to write your own encounters with the ghost within these parameters. If you want an encounter outside of these parameters (attempting to communicate, capture, etc), let me know and I will NPC her for you. You are going to have to solve the mystery of the ghost to make this stop. Better Scooby-Doo the hell out of this, y'all. There will be a mod-post for investigations on the ghost and another one whenever we're ready to take her out.
